Perfect weather conditions provided the backdrop for the sporting stands and it looked like a day of good scores. Peter Kelly and John Tate showed the way on Stand 1 in the first squad out both hitting 9/10 and they were joined by George Costain and Bob Wright.

The awkward second stand took a few by surprise but one man hitting the perfect 10/10 was Mark Bimson as he joined the leaders George and Peter on 17/20.

As squad one struggled with the slow incomer on stand 3 leaving them shaking their heads in disbelief, Bob and George took advantage and after 30 targets were joint leaders. On stand 4 Peter Kelly brought himself back into the frame together with Mark they were on 33/40 as they came in for a break, but it was squad two where George and Bob were still doing battle with Bob taking a narrow lead on 1 target into the last stand.

The final stand was said to be the hardest and going first Irene showed just how to take a looping target hitting 7/10.  This score proved to be the highest on this stand as targets slipped away, Bob managed to hold on taking high gun by 1 target from Peter.

George had to be content with first in handicap with Tricia Waterhouse taking the ladies prize from Irene.
